There’s nothing worse than sitting at a computer, staring at a blank screen for hours on end, knowing you have to write but struggling to create anything you’re happy with. With every tick of the clock your impatience and anxiety increases until the inevitable meltdown happens when you launch your pen across the desk in a rage. Suddenly all those niggling jobs you meant to do months ago such as filling in your tax form, giving the office skirting boards a good clean or organising the fridge alphabetically, seem strangely attractive. Literally anything other than the agony of trying to write would be a welcome relief.
