Make Your Staff Stand Out With Professional Website Copywriting
Your staff are vital to the success of your company - they are the face of your business and the first point of contact your customers have with you. Your website copy probably contains general phrases relating to the quality of your customer service team or other members of staff. There’s nothing wrong with this at all, in fact it’s a great idea to let your visitors know how good the staff at your company are. The problem occurs in the way this information is usually conveyed.
For some reason, staff (customer service teams in particular) get a raw deal when it comes to website copywriting. There are hundreds of examples of flimsy, nonspecific phrases which describe how great customer service teams are. Classic examples include…
- “Our advisers are trained to consistently deliver top quality solutions.”
- “Our small teams offer you a highly personalised service that you won’t find elsewhere.”
- “We offer an outstanding personal service and impartiality to all our customers.”
- “You will find our sales team extremely knowledgeable and helpful.”
These flat phrases do nothing to help or inform the visitors and just take up valuable space on the website page. You’d hope that staff had been trained to be impartial and it’s hardly breaking news that a customer service team is helpful, therefore these phrases shouldn’t even be in the copy or should be completely reworded.
If you have a good customer service team (even if it’s just yourself providing all the services your company offers) then this is a valuable asset to your company. You should be telling people why your team is so great and how they can help your visitors through your website copy.
So how can you transform these generic phrases? You have to highlight the benefits of the service your staff provide your visitors and customers with and you have to be true to your brand. The first two examples above could be reworded as follows to promote the exact benefit that your team is offering.
- “Our advisers will quickly and efficiently give you the solutions you need so you can save time and money searching elsewhere for car insurance.”
- “Chris and Mary in our customer services team can offer you specific advice on all our products so give them a call now to find out more information.”
There are hundreds of different ways these phrases can be rewritten to suit your business but the main benefit is the same ‘your team is ready to help your customers when they need it’.
All website copywriting should be about selling every benefit your company has to offer so don’t miss a chance to let everyone know just how great your company is.
